EDITING
Why edit?
If your document is to be published you will want to ensure it is error free before it is widely read. You will also want to make sure that your message is absolutely clear and presented in an appealing way. Spelling and punctuation mistakes can detract from your message, while long paragraphs of dense text and confusing sentences can make your reader switch off instead of hearing what you have to say.
It’s not just novels and textbooks that need to be edited. Any document you produce to promote your business or inform your customer needs to get the message across accurately and clearly for the best results. Getting it right can save you time and money.
Copyediting
When copyediting, I will correct grammar, spelling and punctuation, eliminate repetition and unnecessary words and phrases, and possibly rephrase some sentences. I will also correct errors of fact where possible and query elements that may need correction or explanation—all designed to make your message clearer and more effective.
Proofreading
Proofreading is the final step before publishing a document. Here I will check that all the elements are included in the proper order, the layout is correct, and all errors have been removed.
For more information about different levels of editing, refer to the Institute of Professional Editors.
Transcription
Transcription involves converting spoken language to written. The transcript can be word for word or edited to read well, depending on your purpose.

TRANSLATION
French to English translation
If you need to have documents translated from French for your visa application or your business, please contact me.
How much does it cost?
Standard documents are charged as follows:
French police clearance $45
French birth certificate $60
French birth certificate + police clearance $85
French driver’s licence $50
To receive an accurate quote for other documents, please email me a copy (or a sample if it is a long document). Confidentiality is guaranteed as I am bound by the AUSIT Code of Ethics. I will normally get back to you within 24 hours.
Can you provide NAATI certification?
If your document needs to be certified by a NAATI translator, I will stamp and sign a hard copy and return it to you by post.
How long will it take?
That depends on the type and length of document you need translated, as well as my other commitments at the time. If it is a standard one-page document I can normally have it ready for you within two days.
How do I pay?
You can pay by electronic funds transfer, PayPal or cheque. On completion of the translation, I will provide you with an invoice including my bank account details.
English to French translation
I am not accredited to translate into French. For this you need a native French speaker, and I can recommend Caroline Sanders.
